Woodbridge took on Burlington SC at Vaughan Grove last night, following the women’s game against Oakville Blue Devils. Coming off two tough losses, Woodbridge needed to pick up three points to keep their hopes of competing for the league title alive.

The game however started in a non ideal way, as Mattheus Mello found Mauri Lulli who tapped in the opening goal for Burlington, only three minutes into the game. However, Woodbridge would answer back shortly after, with Franz Mella finding the darting run of Dujon Martin who slotted home the equalizer in the 18th minute.

The teams traded chances and yellow cards for the remainder of the game, as the game got chippy and the fouls started coming in. In the 65th minute, Franz Mella would find himself on a break and rifled home a weak foot shot to give Woodbridge a 2-1 lead, with 25 minutes left to play. Woodbridge would hold the line well, with goalkeeper Dante Ferraro and the back line rejecting all Burlington chances. Ultimately, Burlington could not convert and Woodbridge would take home the three points.
