OWHA Game Report: Cambridge Rivulettes 3 vs. 8 Burlington Barracudas

The Cambridge Rivulettes squad faced a formidable opponent in the Burlington Barracudas on Friday evening in OWHA U22 AA action. Despite putting up a valiant effort, Cambridge succumbed to the Barracudas’ dominance, resulting in an 8-3 victory for the visiting team. The game kicked off with Burlington seizing control early in the first period. #21 TJ Flores and #19 Ella Humphrey swiftly found the back of the net, putting the Rivulettes on the defensive. However, Cambridge responded promptly as #24 Myriam Parnell capitalized on a scoring opportunity, narrowing the deficit to one goal by the end of the first period.

The second period proved to be a challenging ordeal for Cambridge as Burlington capitalized on power play opportunities, scoring three goals in quick succession courtesy of #8 Sara Manness, #6 Charlotte Pieckenhagen, and #14 Ellie Markakis. Although Cambridge managed to answer back with a goal from #10 Jenna Charron, Burlington maintained their momentum, with #44 Bryn Prier extending their lead to 6-2 by the end of the period.

Despite Cambridge’s efforts to mount a comeback, Burlington’s staunch defense proved insurmountable. The Barracudas effectively neutralized Rivulettes’ offensive maneuvers, securing their victory with two additional goals from Prier and Manness, and a lone goal from #11 Gillian Warren for the home team.

With this decisive win, the Burlington Barracudas concluded the regular season in third place with an impressive 34-1-8 record. Meanwhile, Cambridge Rivulettes remained tied for 9th place with a 23-0-18 record.
